When yarns tell stories.
Lunzer Webermarkt
31 July to 2 August 2026
On the first weekend of August, Lunz am See is all about threads, patterns and textiles. The Lunz Weaving Market brings together craftspeople from near and far, showcasing what is often created away from the spotlight: textiles that are woven, dyed, printed and embroidered by hand rather than produced on an assembly line.
Visitors encounter a craft that has been part of everyday life for centuries and yet has become increasingly rare. The market offers home textiles, clothing, scarves, bags and one-of-a-kind pieces whose beauty often reveals itself only at a second glance: the texture of a weave, the depth of a colour, the subtle irregularity that speaks of true craftsmanship.
A special focus this year is the “Bound Rosepath”, a traditional weaving technique from Northern Europe. The Weaving School of Imst demonstrates how yarns, colours and patterns come together to create fabrics that range from folkloric to beautifully abstract.
The Weaving Market feels perfectly at home in the spirit of Refugium Lunz. Here, too, materials, craftsmanship and the appreciation of things made with care play an important role. Throughout the house, many objects carry within them time, skill and attention to detail. The Weaving Market tells the same story – only through threads instead of wood, stone or light.
The Lunz Weaving Market takes place from 31 July to 2 August 2026. The weekend is complemented by exhibitions at the local handicraft museum and the traditional Krapfenkirtag on Sunday.
